S.presso is the professional's choice for augmenting the fatty acid profile of baby brine shrimp. The product contains 150 mg/g (dwt) of Highly Unsaturated Fatty Acids (HUFA's) comprised primarily of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and a smaller component of EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid). An emulsifying agent allows ror ready mixing of the beneficial oils with water in a blender for feeding to artemia and rotifers.
General guidelines: Extrapolating from techniques used in large scale aquaculture, a hobbyist can easily enrich artemia at home.
Gently harvest newly hatched artemia from the hatching cone or dish and place in a clean container of seawater with moderate aeration. Wait at least 12-16 hours post-hatching before enriching. The suggested animal density for best results is about 400 baby brine shrimp (nauplii) per ml. of water. This would roughly equate to the hatching yield from one gram of 75-80% hatch rate quality cysts (about 220,000 nauplii) in 500 ml of seawater.
Measure about one ml. of S.presso into a blender containing 100 ml. luke warm water and blend at high speed for two to three minutes. Add your emulsion to the container containing the baby brine shrimp, wait 12 - 16 hours, harvest and feed. Maintain moderate aeration throughout.
