A Critical Link in the Aquatic Food Chain

Brine Shrimp Direct has secured a reliable source for a nutritious natural food — Daphnia pulicaria — wild-harvested in the Pacific Northwest. It is now available in both frozen and as low-temperature dried daphnia (LTDD).

Daphnia pulicaria, a small crustacean also known as a "water flea," is organic and naturally enriched with a blue-green algae (aphanizomenon flos-aquae), making it an excellent source of HUFAs (highly unsaturated fatty acids), including arachidonic acid, alpha-linolenic acid, and linolenic acid.

Brine Shrimp Direct's Frozen Daphnia is harvested, chilled and frozen on board, enabling greater retention not only of nutrients but also of flavorants, which stimulate feeding response in many fish.

Used in Commercial Aquaculture!

Our Daphnia frozen fish food has no antibiotics or additives, is higher in HUFA content than artemia, and provides a diet rich in the blue-green algae that helps produce brighter colors in your fish.

500 to 1750 microns in size — slightly larger than newly hatched artemia.
